Ruth Rudd: Praying through the Seasons

Here at ECHS the students love their teachers. They are at the heart of all that we do, and they display God’s love through the amount of work they put into their jobs, and the way they treat their students.

Ruth Rudd retired from ECHS last school year, and she is no exception to this claim.

In her 31 years of service to this school, Ms Rudd had many different jobs, and she celebrated the change each time a new job came along.

Ms Rudd commented, “Each job was like a new season in my life. I figured since that is the job God gave me, I will embrace it!”

One of the last things that Ms Rudd worked on was the BYOD project. She worked with her team in order to establish a way for students to participate in what she called, “transformational learning”.

Since retiring, Ms Rudd has kept busy while working on various projects.Ms Rudd enjoys taking time to be with her family, especially her local grandchildren. She loves to create videos and songs for her grandchildren. She even created a music track for them to sing along to.

In addition to being with her family, Ms Rudd has found plenty of time to be with the Lord and talk to him. She prays for her family and our world on the daily.

One of her big areas of prayer has been for ECHS. She asks God for the teacher’s nerves to be calmed, and that the students will be kind and love each other. She also prays for overall protection for our school.

Through her time in prayer, God has taught Ms Rudd many things.

One thing she highlighted was, “I need to be a part of building God’s Kingdom and be sure I am not building on my own kingdom.”

God has taught her to lean on him. Ms Rudd has continued to live faithfully by her life verse, which is Proverbs 3:5-6:

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him and He will make straight your paths.”

As she moves forward in this season of her life and beyond, Ms Rudd has chosen to continue to cling to this verse. We all love to have a plan, but sometimes God’s plan does not follow ours. Despite this, Ruth Rudd has continued to stay faithful and follow the Lord.

Though God has not always worked in my timetable, He has never let me down in showing me the next step.”
