Tricia Owuor: Firm in Her Faith

Senior Tricia Owuor first came to Eastern Christian in 8th grade after moving to New Jersey from Kenya, which is why many people might find her plans after high school interesting. After high school, Tricia leaves for Army Basic Training and when asked about why she chose to do so, Tricia always responds with, “I decided to join the Army because I wanted to be part of the world's greatest team.”

One of the most valuable lessons that Tricia has learned is that,“EC has taught me not to be ashamed of my faith and to pass it on to anyone that will listen. I can proudly say that I’m a Christian,” she said. Not only has Tricia’s faith been shaped through her time at EC but also by a teacher, “I’ve taken Mr. Wright’s classes all four years of high school. His creativity has inspired me to create more and not to be like everyone else.”

Throughout high school, Tricia also “loved being on the track team. My teammates became my family. Their encouragement has helped me to keep working hard on and off the field.” Tricia is also extremely thankful for, “the friendships I’ve made along the way.”

During her time at EC, Tricia not only has felt like her eagerness towards learning improved but she has also, “learned a lot about different cultures and their ways of life. Things I would have never known if I didn’t go to EC.”

As senior year comes to a close, Tricia reflects on the fact that, “My faith is very important to me because everything I’m able to do is because of God.”
